Seward easily wins the hearts of those who come to visit and is known as the "gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park". Seward is located 129 miles south of Anchorage and is easily accessible by the Seward Highway, via a National Scenic Byway, or by rail on the Alaska Railroad. If you plan on driving from Anchorage to Seward we recommend you allow about 3 hours driving time.

When you arrive you will discover Seward is a small town and almost everything is within easy walking distance. It's just a little over a mile from the south end of town at the Alaska SeaLife Center to the north end of town at the Small Boat Harbor, about a 20 minute walk. A Seward Walking Map is available in pdf format that shows points of interest and historical sites that can be easily printed for your visit to Seward.

Two departure times, a morning and afternoon departure time is available.

The Seward Anchorage bus provides daily bus services between Anchorage and Seward, the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park.

The morning Anchorage departure is the transportation option to Seward for our 11:30 am whale watching glacier cruise.

Our most popular Seward transportation option is to travel one direction by bus and return by the Alaska Railroad Coastal Classic Train, allowing you to take in the scenic vistas of both the highway and rail routes.

The Seward Anchorage Bus offers connection for Seward cruise ship passengers to and from Anchorage.

The Denali Seward Bus is the only daily transportation option available between Seward and Denali National Park with a single days travel time, enabling you to enjoy a pre or post cruise tour of Denali Park. Other transportation options require 2 days travel time. This is a 365-mile bus trip between Denali and Anchorage and Seward.

The south and northbound buses will arrive in Anchorage at the Anchorage Museum at approximately 1:30 pm. The Museum features a fabulous cafe if you would like to enjoy lunch on your own. At 3:00 pm board the bus to continue your journey north to Denali or south towards Seward. Northbound bus arrives in Denali at 9:00 pm. and the southbound bus arrives in Seward at 5:45 pm.

Rail connection to and from Seward and also the train connection for arriving and departing cruise ships in Seward, Alaska.

The Coastal Classic Train is also an transportation option for the whale watching and glacier day cruise to Kenai Fjord National Park.

Coastal Classic Train runs between Anchorage and Seward with a stop in Girdwood. The first 50 miles is along the Turnagain Arm. With tides that can vary over 40 feet, it has the second highest tides in North America. Beluga whales and Dall sheep are also often see along this section. Heading up into the mountains you'll pass glaciers, waterfalls, snowy mountaintops of the Chugach Range and travel through lush spruce and birch forests.
